Budgeting tips for moms

I would like to share these tips for a stay home mom like me especially in our present financial difficulties. It is a challenge that all moms must face sooner or later, preparing affordable meals that are at the same time good for the family's health.
Here they are:

Plan you meals
Always plan meals for the entire week, this makes shopping easier and prevents unnecessary spendings. Create a meal planner so you know ahead of time what food items you need to buy even before you go to the market.

Shop at a wet market
Looking for more affordable food items? Wet market is the best place, here you can make a lot of choices and can even bargain to the lowest price. Lots of choices too.

Eat home-cooked meals
Eating home-cooked meals is a lot cheaper than eating outside. Preparing food at home allows you to have complete control of the cooking process and the ingredients you put in your food. It also helps you estimate how much food you need to cook for the particular meal.

Reduce food waste
Before throwing out leftover foods, consider first how you can recycle them, convert in another more palatable meal or snacks. Just make sure that leftover foods are stored properly. Do not reheat food more than once, reheating destroys nutritional content of the food.

Grow your own
It is nice to take time and think of trying to plant in your backyard, let's go organic, that means more safer to eat.
It also develop bonding and camaraderie among your kids.

Eating healthy foods need not be expensive, once you learned careful meal planning, shopping, and cooking. It is much easier to give your family good, nutritious, and healthy food while following your budget.

My moments

This is a usual day for me, waking up every 3:00am Monday thru Friday. For 21 years of being a full time mother,in general i am enjoying it. Although sometimes i feel tired of doing the same things all the time,24/7. There are times that i feel i am not effective anymore as a mother, because at times kids act differently to what i am saying or negating what i want them to do, or maybe it is also the dynamic world that affects their attitudes(still justifying),i am not sure of course. But don't get me wrong, i am a liberated mother only that whenever i need to scold them for wrongdoing i do so. I am their best friend i think, we can talk about anything under the sun.

Wheeew! change the topic, lol. Yesterday just when i got home, i opened my email and i got a good news regarding my ongoing application to Canada,my employer promised to work on the documents needed to submit to the Canadian embassy here in Manila. These are the only ones needed to know the verdict, lol. So this keeps me inspired and less stressful day ahead for me now, again keep praying for me friends, thank you so much.

We are told that people stay in love because of chemistry or because they remain intrigued with each other, because of many kindnesses, because of luck... But part of it has got to be forgiveness and gratefulness.
Ellen Goodman
American journalist (1941 - )

All the arts we practice are apprenticeship. The big art is our life.
M. C. Richards

Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.
Martin Luther King Jr. (1929 - 1968)

Accustom yourself continually to make many acts of love, for they enkindle and melt the soul.
Saint Teresa of Avila (1515 - 1582)

If you observe a really happy man, you will find... that he is happy in the course of living life twenty-four crowded hours each day.
W. Beran Wolfe

We allow our ignorance to prevail upon us and make us think we can survive alone, alone in patches, alone in groups, alone in races, even alone in genders.
Maya Angelou
US author & poet (1928 - )

The really potent part of love is that it allows you to carry around beliefs about yourself that make you feel special, desirable, precious, innately good. Your lover couldn't have seen [these qualities] in you, even temporarily, if they weren't part of your essential being.
Martha Beck, O Magazine, February 2003

When you helped somebody, right away you were responsible for that person. And things always followed for which you were never prepared.
Martha Brooks, True Confessions of a Heartless Girl

Happiness often sneaks in through a door you didn't know you left open.
John Barrymore (1882 - 1942)

Learn the art of patience. Apply discipline to your thoughts when they become anxious over the outcome of a goal. Impatience breeds anxiety, fear, discouragement and failure. Patience creates confidence, decisiveness, and a rational outlook, which eventually leads to success.

My new baby

Good day to all my friends here at blogland, you might wondering what i am doing all this time. From being absent from our haven(that is what i call it). I have not mentioned to you about my another baby....the foundation which i have recently joined, new for it was only running for 9mos now. I am one of the officers so, given this big responsibility, i am obliged to do my duties.

Let me give you first an insight how and what this foundation is all about. This is an organization mainly formed thru forum called POEA forum(PHILIPPINE OVERSEAS AND EMPLOYMENT ADMINISTRATION) an agency which facilitates our citizens who wish to go abroad and work. Since i am one of the aspirants so i came to know this forum. From this forum you will meet people who are already out of the country who likes to help those aspiring to work abroad. Help in terms of advises and tips onced you get to your destinations and other things. Then, from there a foundation was formed it is called PINOY FORUMERS SOCIETY FOUNDATIONS INC.(PINOY is a colloquial term for FILIPINOS). Even before it was officially registered in the SECURITIES AND EXCHANGE COMMISSION we are already giving donations to the benificiaries, we've done it to school,we donated chairs, tables, trash bins, blackboards and electric fans. Another one was in a house for the abandoned children and for girls who were abused physically, mentally and sexually. We donated some of their personal needs and among other things.

You might again wondering where we get our funds.Considering the facts that the things being donated requires a large amount of money. The money is being donated by our members who are working abroad or even for non-members who are willing to share their blessings. If we are going to have an upcoming project we tell them, then we start asking for help. I salute them for their great contributions to make all our projects feasible. Considering the fact that we have not seen each other personally, only on the net. That is how they trusted the organization. I am so proud of these people!

Recently, July 11, 2009, we had our first grand reunion of all the officers and other members too. Our chairwoman came home from United Arab Emirates to personally meet us and plan for another project.

I am praying that this will be another fruitful one. Sharing some of the pictures during the grand reunion.
